UNESCO protected Ha Long Bay is made up of 1969 islands of various sizes. There are two kinds of islands: limestone and schist and over 3000 of them are limestone islands. While some islands are no more than a large rock, others aremuch more substantial and contain huge cathedral – like caves of stalactites. Lan Ha Bay offers numerous beaches and islands to explore, which includes subtropical green forests on the hills, freshwater swamp forests at the base of the hills and small freshwaterlakes and coral reefs.

Day 1: Hanoi to Halong Bay. Board your ship, kayak and feel the raw nature
Get ready for one of the most remarkable experiences you will have – exploring Halong Bay away from the crowds.
You will be picked up around 08-08:30 in the morning from your Hanoi hotel and slowly leave Hanoi behind. Flow through the beautiful scapes of Hanoi outskirts, pass lush rice fields and take in the local life outside your windows.
Just past noon you will embark your ship, your home for the days ahead. After check-in procedure at the pier, enjoy a thirst-quenching welcome drink and meet your fellow sailors. Your lunch will be served while cruising among rough limestone islands standing tall before you. Majestic, beautiful and rough – just as nature created it.
As you sail deeper into the Halong Bay you will stop at Trong Cave for a bit of kayaking. Going by kayak allows you to get closer to the inlets and the raw nature and gives you a sense of freedom.
Back at the boat you will have time to relax before your dinner is served around 19.00. As the night falls you will have the choice to entertain yourself with squid fishing, karaoke, board games, movies or star gazing on the upper deck with a cool drink in hand.

Day 2: Halong Bay.
Sail, kayak, go cave hunting and explore the less crowded areas of Halong Bay
Rise early for a chance to go swimming before breakfast is served. Before the crowds arrive, go to Sung Sot Cave - one of the most spectacular and largest grottoes of Halong Bay. You will enter a world of stalactites hanging from above and rays of lights and shapes wherever you look. At the deepest point of the cave you will find the "Royal Garden" waiting for you with a small and clear pond and a captivating landscape of mountains. Birds and plants live here and occasionally you will meet monkeys on the hunt for fruit.
You will then go by boat to Cat Ba island, and some hiking in the Lush and beautiful Cat Ba National Park.
After the excursion you will go to Cat Ba City to have lunch and check in to your hotel.
In the afternoon, go to Monkey Island. Don't forget your swim suit as you will have the chance to swim from the beach. If you prefer to stay back in the town, you can easily go for some biking, shopping or swimming in the nearby area.
Your dinner is served at the hotel, and the evening is free for you to enjoy.

Day 3: Halong Bay to Hanoi.
Slowly cruise back towards mainland for your return to Hanoi
Rise early tohave breakfast and check out from your room. Your bus to the island pier leaves at 8:00 and from here you slowly sail back to the main land. Enjoy more of Halong Bay as you make you way back. Pass islets shaped as a Fighting Cock, Incense Urn, Lonely Dog, Finger and Duck. Your creativity and imagination are nurtured in Halong Bay.
Lunch will be served on the boat on the way back to Halong harbour around noon and Upon arrival back at the Halong Bay harbour swap from boat to vehicle and start your trip back to Hanoi.
You will be dropped off at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter around 16:30.

What can you expect during TET? The lunar New Year is very important to the Vietnamese. The days are spent together with family and relatives in private homes to celebrate. Expect the streets to be fairly empty and life at street level to be very limited.
