Driving to Nubra valley is yet another example of man's achievements. The prominent Khardung ridge runs north of Leh. The traditional pass of Khardung La across the ridge is the world's highest motorable pass in the whole world! This road is the lifeline of the people and the army here and often lay with heavy traffic, which carries supplies to the remote but fertile Nubra and Shyok valleys. These valleys were only recently opened to the tourists, so most parts of these valleys remain unexplored and unknown: still a mystery to the outside world. It is here that you will find the double humped camels in India. At 3000 metres, you might also find Sand dunes!

Today, in morning you will drive from Leh to Lamayuru (3 hours). After visiting the monastery, you will drive to Alchi (1 hour) for an overnight stay. Visit the village and the little ??beach' (riverside) here. (L, D)
Day 2: Alchi - Leh (Driving time: 4 hours including a side trip to Likir)
After breakfast, you will visit the monastery at Alchi. This is one of the oldest monasteries of Ladakh and has very unique sculptures. Return drive to Leh, enroute visit the monastery at Likir. (B)
Day 3: Leh - Sumur (Driving time: 4 hours approx.)
Today you will drive through the highest pass in the world, the Khardung-La (above 5602 m) to arrive at the village of Sumur. In the afternoon, you will visit the hot water springs at Panamik and the Samstaling monastery. (B, D)
After breakfast you will drive to Hundar and visit the local monastery at Hundar. Then we drive you to Diskit to visit the Camel-breeding farm. Hundar lies seven kilometres from Diskit. Between the two villages lie sand dunes at a height of 3000 meters! It is here that you find the double humped camels! If desired, one can walk through the sand dunes to return to the camp/ guesthouse at Hundar. (B, L, D)
After breakfast, drive to Diskit to visit the monastery, where you will find the skull and arm of the slain Mongolia King. Return drive back to Leh through the Khardung La. Rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
