This trip is a visit to the Southern parts of Vietnam, with an exclusive opportunity to learn about the history and culture but also to admire the beauty of this region. Lets discover together the impressive Cu Chi tunnels - a great relic of the 30-year long struggle and fierce fighting against the invading enemy in order to win independence and freedom. After that there is a boat trip on the peaceful Mekong Delta that will help you understand better the daily lives of the locals. The final stage of the journey is relaxing on the beautiful Phu Quoc Island!

  • Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Cao Dai - Cu Chi Tunnel.

    Pick up from hotel at 08:00 – 08:30 and transfer to visit Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh. The Great Holy temple, built in 1926, is considered one of the most striking structures in all of Asia. It is the headquarters of Caodaism, a religion that is a colorful mixture of Buddhism, Christianity, and Confucianism. We will attend the noon mass held daily by the Cao Dai's followers. After lunch, visit to the Cu Chi tunnels – an underground network now considered a heroic district for its role in the anti-American war in Vietnam. The tunnel system is more than 220km long and is a popular spot for both Vietnamese and foreign visitors. Return to HCM city in the afternoon.

  • Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City - My Tho - Ben Tre - Can Tho.

    Pick up from hotel at 08:00 – 08:30. A smooth one and half hour bus ride passing the green rice fields, leading us to the beautiful rural My Tho city. The morning trip continues on a motorized boat on the Tien river to the Qui (Tortoise islet). On the way, the boat passes a fishing port, stilt houses, boat building workshops, the other Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn islets. The cruise leads through the Bao Dinh canal and into the Ben Tre province, "the coconut country, where you can see a typical agricultural model called "Garden – Pond – Cage", then enjoy the coconut candy mill and some relaxing honey tea. Then the amazing rowing boat trip on the small canal – fully covered by the shadow of the coconut trees and cool breezes is something that must not be missed. Lunch will be served right in the heart of the orchard garden. After lunch, there will be a walk along the village, a visit to a fruit garden, where one can enjoy the tropical fruit while listening to the sound of "Southern Vietnamese folk music" performed by the islanders. It is also possible to join in the daily activities of the local people and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful unspoilt countryside. Wonderful trip on the boat back to My Tho on the Tan Thach natural canal. From there we continue by road on to Can Tho city.

  • Day 3: Cai Rang floating market - Rach Gia - Phu Quoc Island.

    The tour's third day starts from Ninh Kieu boat quay with a cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries and a visit to the Cai Rang floating market. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the daily activities of the locals who live along the Mekong canals. We stop to take a walk through the village to visit a rice husking mill and a shop where rice noodles are made (So, you will see and learn how to make them). Then the day continues with a trek along the village to see how the local people live. We return to Can Tho for the departure to Rach Gia, on the Duong Dong express boat to Phu Quoc (13:30 – 15:30).

  • Day 4: Free & easy at resort.

    Breakfast at the resort. Full day at leisure for beach activities. Overnight at your resort on Phu Quoc island. (B)

  • Day 5: Phu Quoc Island discovery.

    Morning: Pick up from your resort at 08:00 – 08:30. The day starts with a visit to the pearl farm of Australia (the real pearls are made on Phu Quoc island) and the coconut prison, built during the Vietnam War. The next stop is the seafood market at the port of An Thoi, where you will have some time to study the daily activities of the local fishermen. Possibility to spend some time at Sao beach to swim, sunbathe or enjoy fresh seafood on this beautiful beach.

    Afternoon: Visiting Ridgeback dog & Phu Quoc. Possibility to go to Ham Ninh fishing village, where the traditional fish sauce processing house (the most famous in Vietnam) is situated and visit local wine manufacturers (enjoy local wine free). (B, L)

December, January and February are in peak season for accommodation on Phu Quoc Island so it is necessary to book the trip early.
This product may be affected by Vietnamese TET (New Year) – normally in Jan/Feb. Specific dates are blocked in the booking calendar if and when not bookable.
What can you expect during TET? The lunar New Year is very important to the Vietnamese. The days are spent together with family and relatives in private homes to celebrate. Expect the streets to be fairly empty and life at street level to be very limited.
