Learn your skills in the confined water of the pool at our resort, then venture out into the blue and warm water surrounding the Gili Islands. You will find that this destination provides you the absolutely best conditions imaginable for your first experience in the great world of diving! The abundance of fish found in the waters around Gili Trawangan will not disappoint any diver. Indonesia is home to more than 3,000 species of marine life and on the Gili Islands you will surely witness a great number of these species.
Some of the greatest fish seen during diving and snorkeling are white tip reef sharks, turtles, cuttle fish, moray eels, and leaf scorpion fish. Huge schools of fish move around the dive sites. For the diver more interested in coral, great rock formations at the deeper sights offer world class coral, some of the best in the world. There are sites here suitable for all levels of divers and a lot of dive sites to choose from. The distance between the dive center and all the dive sites is very short. You will have plenty of time to relax on land between all dives.
The SSI Open Water Diver course is one of the most popular diving certificate worldwide. After completing this 3-4 day course you are certified to dive to 18 m independently with a buddy.
The course consists of five modules of learning. You study via self-study workbook and complete a knowledge review. This process is assisted by videos accompanying each chapter to reinforce what you have learned. The instructor reviews everything with you to ensure that everything are confidently understood. The practical learning consists of pool sessions and four open water dives. Dive one and two are conducted at a depth of max 12 meters and dive three and four are conducted at max 18 meters. The final stage of the SSI Open Water course is an exam, which is a multiple choice exam covering all that you have learnt. Remember that the course is performance based and not time based. The course generally takes 3 to 4 days, with the theoretical, the pool and the open water part successfully passed.
The SSI Open Water Course is performance based. That means you have to understand and pass the theory and perform the in-water skills correctly and with ease. Therefore, the itinerary can vary slightly from course to course. The course will take 3 to 4 days depending on the students enrolled

You have 2 options for your accommodation on Gili Trawangan. Either go for the cosy and private bungalow option, or check in at the really funky and very relaxed hostel in a dorm room. Breakfast is included and served at the resort and hostel. Both options has air-con and hot shower for your convenience. whatever you chose, you will have just a few meters to the beach. The bungalows and hostel can be fully booked in high season. It is good to book 3 months in advance. If the accommodation is full, a similar option will be given to you.
Flights from Bali: There are daily flights from Denpasar in Bali to Mataram on Lombok with several airlines. Flights run every hour from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and flight time is approximately 25 minutes.
At arrival in Mataram airport you take a taxi/transport to Bangsal Harbour where the public boat sails across to the island of Gili Trawangan. If you would prefer to arrive more comfortably a pick up can be arranged by the dive dive center. Whichever you choose, the trip from the airport to the dive center on Gili Trawangan is a 40 minute car journey and a 15 minute speedboat transfer to the island.
